Willems and Mitchell began working with the colorful bail and bounty hunter industries in 1993, and in 1994 they took cameras along, as they rode with several prominent body hunters as they hunted wanted fugitives. The adrenalin-pumping footage they gathered convinced them to develop a reality offering of unique proportion. In 1995 they began production on a one hour special, titled, American Bounty Hunter, which was picked up by Paramount Television, and aired on the UPN network in March and July of 1996. It was the very first time that the colorful bounty hunter industry was presented to television audiences.

Since those early years this male-dominated industry has taken on some drastic, but very welcome changes. Today, in a field of more than 18,000 full-time bail bond agents, and 4,000 bounty hunters, 50% are women.  They are lovingly referred to as, BailChix.

What is so special about BailChix?

In the past six years several producers have attempted to produce and deliver reality offerings featuring female bounty hunters. None of these shows delivered high action, and the women presented lacked beauty, true professionalism and experience. Through our ongoing relationships, we located and reached out to female bail agents and bounty hunters who spend every working day writing bail and hunting down fugitives who skip on that bail - women who are as tough as men, and unafraid to go through a door and take down a fugitive.

We located 150 women who were working professionally in every corner of the country. We conducted background checks, interviewed over the phone, and collected photos and amateur video. Ranging in age from 25 to 65, and representing more than a dozen races, we narrowed the field down to two. These hand-picked finalists meet with all of our criteria...they are tough, attractive, experienced, and on top of their game. They come from the colorful cities of Salt Lake City, UT and Oklahoma City, OK.

In 2007 Champion began developing and producing BailChix.
